2 Girls, 6 Allergies, 1 Dream
It started out as a drunken joke and a midnight craving for noodles, and now here we are.
Would you say this began our freshman or sophomore year?
Sophomore year. I mean, come on it doesn’t truly begin until the voice memo. There is no way we could have come up with this sober. Tell me I am wrong.
True, true. A lot of tequila and wine was involved. Shout out to Emma and Elayna though, we seriously couldn’t have done this without them.
We love you! Okay, so the story begins…
After a long night of gossip, chatting, and several bottles of wine, we naturally were starving. I mean brink of starving to death. Dining hall was closed and so was just about every grocery store we could go to even IF we had a designated driver. Our options were mobile ordering greasy fast food and regretting it 2 hours later, or cooking our own dorm food. The bigger concern was, how many drunk girls did it take to not catch a microwave on fire making instant ramen? The answer is upwards of 4. All we wanted was noodles but that just wasn’t option. And to make matters worse, between us two alone we have 6 food allergies, one of which is gluten. Being the wonderful entrepreneurs we are, and riding on the ongoing joke that sexting and 21st century sex sucks, we designed the most crude, allergen friendly, and fulfilling late night meal business.
We want to make a 24/7 noodle delivery company…most of the time delivery. We want to name the noodles based on…
Text sexual innuendos!
What are some of the ideas?
Tortellini! There has to be an innuendo somewhere..
We’ll think of the names when we’re sober.
Girl, we both know we won’t. This is the best we’ll get.
Yeah you’re right. Okay, so noodle company, with delivery service, and it has completely allergen-friendly options
Perfect! And then what if the hours are targeted towards college students who are up studying late, want a healthy meal after practice, or just have the munchies?
And on the night of Thursday, September 25, 2022, our dream was born. From there, we worked hard to design a menu, reasonable pricing, and a substantial plan to take a stab at a business launch competition. As two girls without a major in business, we figured we had a slim to no chance at winning, but we wanted to share our idea so hopefully someone would buy it off of us and make our dream come true - even if we didn’t get to do it ourselves. Spring of 2023 rolled around, and we presented our skeleton of an idea to a group of judges against 6-8 other teams of male business partners wearing suits and matching ties. Now, it’s important to mention we were wearing hot pink and heels. When awards were given, we were gifted a grand prize to begin our business. We started contacting lawyers to get contracts, started charting our finances, and began to give this drunken thought some real traction. At the end of the day, we are just excited to know that other people care about the market for people with allergens, that is already a big step for our society.
